Hey All!
Last week (10/23/2020) we had our Wide Awake Action, which was a success! We had a great turnout and Everything went smoothly. Thank you to everyone who showed up and brought friends and family to the action, it was great to see some new faces on our march to Town Hall, and thank you to the national Sunrise members who helped us out. We had some great speakers and chant/song leads, they were a huge part of this action's success. Great Job! Make sure to follow us on social media to stay updated on any upcoming actions and to learn more about our movement and election news, and go check out the photos from the action under the Pictures tab!

Hey all! We are back to weekly meetings now that school is back in session. The past two weeks we have been busy preparing for a really exciting Wide Awake Action. There was an art build held yesterday (10/19/2020) where we were able to make some amazing artwork for the action. Pictures from the art build can be found either on our Instagram @whsunrise or they can be found under the "pictures" section of this website. Our Wide Awake Action will take place on Friday (10/23/2020) at 9:00 pm, where we will march from WHS to Watertown Square and Town Hall. Please join us, and please follow COVID guidelines so we can all stay safe! Check out our instagram for additional information and updates, and see our route posted below!
Hello!
Tomorrow is Earth Day! Unfortunately due to COVID-19 our original plans to strike downtown were canceled, but that didn't stop us. We are doing a three day online strike starting tomorrow (4/22/2020) and closing out on Friday (4/24/2020). Find out more in this article: raidertimes.com/news/2020/04/20/whs-strike-circle-has-big-plans-for-earth-day/ Although our original plan to strike in downtown Boston we have not stopped working towards a strike. We are planning for an online strike on Earth Day (you can contact us if you are interested in participating). Our Actions team has created a poster initiative. Each member of our circle and our pledges will be posting some kind of poster to their social medias on Earth Day. Our artistic members will be creating their own unique posters but we also realize that not every one is artistic. We will also have posters that our team has made that people can color in and post if that suits them better. We are also working on a petition that will be sent to Governor Baker. Our petition team is hard at work preparing this petition for Massachusetts support of the Green New Deal. We will have more material on what the Green New Deal is and why we should support it.
The Corona Virus has certainly changed our daily lives as we are all at home now, but that hasn't stopped us. We met on Monday (3/16) via Zoom for our week 3 meeting. We are still working hard to spread awareness. Our teams are continuing to do great work. Our main goal for this week: each member reach out to at least 5 people and ask them to pledge to strike with us. Although the virus has cancelled the big strike in downtown Boston, we will continue to organize for a smaller movement of some kind within our school. We meet again this upcoming Monday (3/23) on Zoom for our week 4 meeting. If you are interested in pledging or want to learn more feel free to contact us!
